I come from India. I studied Bioinformatics at the University of Bonn and completed my Master’s degree in May 2014. I worked at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding and Research on time series expression data of A. thaliana. From February 2013 to May2014, I worked at the Cologne Center for Genomics, University of Cologne as a student research assistant analyzing exome sequencing data for the human diseases epilepsy, schizophrenia, and exstrophy. During my PhD research as part of the IN-SENS training network, I will be working on targeted genome sequencing data in Finnish families ascertained for schizophrenia and related mental illnesses. This study focuses on genomic loci where prior research has implicated the locus for a role in the etiology of schizophrenia in these families, primarily the DISC1 and NDE1 genes. Any significant finding from this research will be used for follow up analysis of neuropsychological, biological and treatment related traits related to major mental illness.
